These safaris are 11 days in Kenya. When our competitors offer an 11 day safari they include the travel days to an from Africa, so what you really get is a 7 day safari. In our safaris you visit 6 parks and reserves, in our competitors, only 3 or 4. And our safaris are much more affordable and include the finest of accommodations. Arrival dates for these safaris are June 11, July 16 and August 13. For those travelers wanting to see the great migration, the July and August travel dates afford the best opportunities. Meals included are B – breakfast, L- lunch, D – dinner.
Day 1 Arrive in Nairobi:
Arrive Nairobi where you are met by a WildTrek concierge and transfered to the famous Stanley Hotel in the heart of downtown Nairobi for dinner and overnight. D
Day 2 To Ol Pejeta Ranch:
After breakfast meet with your WildTrek concierge and driver /guide and drive north though tea and pineapple plantations for the highlands around the base of Mt. Kenya (17,084’). Arrive around noon at Ol Pejeta Ranch and Sweetwaters Tented Camp. After check-in and lunch some time to relax, watch the wildlife that visit the waterhole in front of the camp, take walk around the camp, go on a camel ride or relax by the pool. Mid afternoon go on a game viewing drive, where you will have opportunities to see elephant, giraffe, buffalo, gazelle, rhino and others. B/L/D
Day 3 To Samburu National Reserve:
After breakfast depart with your WildTrek guide for the northern desert and Samburu National Reserve. Arrive around noon at either the Serena or Samburu Lodges, both located along the banks of the Ewaso N’Giro River. PM game drive. After check-in, lunch and some time to relax it is out into the desert with your WildTrek guide to view the many species to be found here, including over 400 species of birds. Here you have opportunities to see, elephant, giraffe, oryx, Grevy’s zebra, gazelle, lion, leopard, cheetah, ostrich and many more. Return to your lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight. B/L/D
Day 4 Samburu National Reserve:
Up at dawn and out into the desert to view wildlife. Mornings are best time to find lion, cheetan and leopard hunting. Return to camp for breakfast then continue with your wildlfe viewing. After lunch some time to relax, then back into the desert to view wildlife. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight. B/L/D
Day 5 To Aberdare National Park:
After breakfast depart with your WildTrek guide for Aberdare National Park and a dramatic change in environments. Aberdare is a mountainous park in mosit tropical forest. Arrive around noon at the Aberdare County Club for lunch, then board the mountain bus which will take you to The Ark Lodge hign in the mountains. Once at the lodge you can watch wildlife that come to visit the waterhole outside the lodge throughout the afternoon and through the night. Overnight at The Ark. B/L/D
Day 6 To Lake Nakuru National Park:
After breakfast back down the mountain to meet with your WildTrek guide and drive to the Great Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive around noon at Lion Hill Lodge overlooking the lake. Afternoon go on a game viewing drive in the park. Lake Nakuru is the only park in Africa created as a sanctuary for birds. Here there are over 500 species to be found, the most numerous of which are the greater and lesser (pink) flamingos, which at time number in the hundreds of thousands. Also to be seen here are white rhino, Rothschild giraffe, buffalo, lion, leopard, hyena and a variety of gazelle. Return to Lion Hill at sunset for dinner and overnight. B/L/D
Day 7 To Lake Naivasha Hell’s Gate National Park:
After breakfast a short drive to Lake Naivasha and Hell’s Gate National. Go on a game viewing drive and optional game walk in the Park. After your walk, drive to nearby Elsamere Conservation Center. Elsamere is the former home of George and Joy Adamson, famous for the book and later movie Born Free. Their home is now a wildlife and environment research conservation center. After lunch on the lawn overlooking the lake, balance of afternoon free to relax, take a boat ride on the lake, hike on Crescent Island or visit the research station. Dinner and overnight at Elsamere. B/L/D
Day 8 To Maasai Mara National Reserve:
After breakfast drive to the world renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve, recently named by ABC News as on of the new 7 Wonders of the World. Arrive around noon at Sarova Mara Tented Camp. After check-in and lunch some time to relax. Mid afternoon out into the savanna with your WildTrek guide to view the many species which make the Mara such a special place. Here you have opportunities to see elephant, giraffe, zebra, topi, gazelle, lions, cheetah, rhino, buffalo and if you are traveling in July or August, the Great Migration when you can see herd of wildebeest and zebra numbering in the thousands. Return to Sarova Mara Camp at sunset for dinner and overnight.. B/L/D
Day 9 Maasai Mara National Reserve:
Early breakfast then go on a full day game drive, traveling to the Mara River where you can see hippo and crocodile. Continue on the eastern side of the Mara viewing wildlife and stop for a picnic lunch. After lunch drive to Maasai Manyatta (village) where you can learn about the lifestyle and culture of the Maasai people. Return to Sarova Mara Camp late afternoon for dinner and overnight. B/L/D
Day 10 Maasai Mara National Reserve:
Up at dawn and out into the Mara. Early morning is the best time to view lions hunting. You also have the option of going on a hot air balloon ride over the Mara (additional cost). Return to Camp for breakfast, then back out to continue viewing wildlife. Lunch in Camp and some time to relax. Afternoon, go on your last game viewing drive. Time to pause and reflect on all the wonders of Africa. Return to Camp at sunset for dinner and overnight. B/L/D
Day 11 To Nairobi:
After breakfast depart with your WildTrek guide for Nairobi and your flights home. Arrive in Nairobi around noon. Time permitting you can go to lunch and do so last minute souvenier shopping. Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International where a WildTrek concierge will assist with your flight check-in. B
